Who is Sylvie? The Lady Loki of the MCU explained

Given her MCU future is now wide, panoramic open, understanding Sylvie's comic book past may give us clues about what Marvel Studios English hawthorn choose to do with this asymptomatic-received brand-new character.

Who is Sylvie Lushton?

There have been several characters known as the Femme fatale in Marvel Comics history. The original, Amora, is an Asgardian sorceress WHO was also one of the Avengers' earliest enemies. Amora possesses powers of mesmerism and illusion, even once impersonating Brunnhilde, Marvel's original Valkyrie, in one of her attempts to meet the squad.

Amora's sister, Lorelei, has her own relationship with Loki that began when Loki enlisted her to seduce Thor - though this scheme evolved into Loki and Lorelei becoming on-once more-off-over again lovers while attempting to misrepresent each other. Lorelei later became an ally to Loki again while atomic number 2 was working as an Agent of Asgard, which also active some lies on his part.

Lorelei was a one-off character in flavour 1 of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, which may Oregon English hawthorn not equal official MCU canyon.

The version of the character who appears in Loki takes the public figure (although not much else) of Sylvie Lushton, a more Holocene incarnation of the Enchantress. Arsenic Osborn schemes with Loki how to best utilisation their team up of Young Masters, Loki, then still in the physical structure of a woman, reveals she is responsible empowering Sylvie with Asgardian power, yet potentially implying she created Sophie entirely out of Asgardian conjuring trick, to have a mortal pawn of her own in play.

The Youth Masters call in Osborn's Dark Avengers for aft-up, resulting in a clash with the Preadolescent Avengers, who fetch up successful out and escaping Osborn with the help of Sylvie, who shortly becomes deathly inauspicious with her powers attenuation when Loki and Osborn's scheme results in Loki's end. Sylvie winds rising surviving and regaining some of her powers, though she decides to leave the Young Masters for good.

Sylvie and then enrolls in the Avengers Academy, attempting to meet her goal of beingness a true Hero of Alexandria, though she only stuck around for a trifle while in front IT was revealed that she was once again beingness manipulated by one of the Academy's foes.

Sadly, after leaving the Avengers Academy, Sylvie vanish back into a life of crime, prototypal connection a version of the Masters of Mephistophelean proper earlier falling in with the Exhaust hood while she pretended to be the avant-garde Enchantress - a choice that led to Amora returning and banishing Sylvie to an unnamed berth in the Ten Realms, which Amora implies will be a ambitious place for Sylvie to survive for long unless she's rightfully got the office of Asgardian magic.

Di Martino's Sylvie is indeed a Loki variant, confiscated from Asgard in her babyhood, explaining why her life and her knowledge of Asgard are so different from that of Loki himself.

Despite the series finish (well, season 1 anyway), there are still significant mysteries surrounding Sylvie, like what was the Nexus event that led to her abduction by the TVA? You said it redeemable or, by contrast, irredeemable is she?

Given her powers of enchantment and illusion, it's whole expected there's yet Thomas More to Sylvie to uncover, especially with a second season of Loki now confirmed.

Sylvie seemed genuinely drawn to Loki and seemed to teeter on the edge in of a full hero turn, simply the trouble caused by He Who Cadaver - the variance of Kang the Conqueror that was responsible for the TVA - was too abysmal. At the end she couldn't aid but take her revenge away seemingly murdering him, resulting in an eruption of multiversal chaos as myriad new timelines suddenly began branching into existence.

And not for nothing, Loki seemed genuinely crushed by her decision.

Information technology's also grand to consider Sylvie's comedian book roots with the Enchantress, an Asgardian scoundrel known for lies, manipulation, trickery, and fraudulence, all with the aid of magic. Sylvie has displayed similar powers, so could there be a unwavering of further illusion in her story, even though she seems to definitively oppose He Who Remains and the TVA?
